Happy Independence Day!
When the Continental Congress formally declared independence. John Adams wrote that the day," will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival ... to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other." Adams' observation is still the best advice for the day 234 years later: Celebrate, honor and remember this founding moment.
