Memory Lanterns - Support Our Troops

For the second year in a row, we are donating a portion of our annual Memory Lantern sales to the men and women of the North Dakota National Guard.

We first introduced the Memory Lanterns in 2005. They are, essentially, small hot air paper balloons, powered by a small candle inside that gives each lantern a warm glow that can be seen for miles in the sky.

The lanterns are often launched in other countries as memorials to loved ones, friends and groups of people. In 2009, numerous lanterns were launched at 11:00 p.m., on the Fourth of July throughout the state to honor and remember the North Dakota men and women serving overseas in the military.

In 2009, we donated $1.00 from every Memory Lantern sale to the North Dakota National Guard, a contribution that totaled just under $5,000.

This year, we hope to break the 2009 donation.

We've been donating to our troops in one form or another for the past five years. Last year, the response to the Memory Lanterns was so overwhelming, we decided to continue this year and try to raise even more for our troops.

The Memory Lanterns, priced at $3.95 each, can be purchased at any of our 25 Memory Fireworks locations across North Dakota in the following cities: Beulah, Bismarck, Bottineau, Bowman, Casselton, Devils Lake, Dickinson, Fargo, Garrison, Grand Forks, Hazen, Hettinger, Jamestown, Lincoln, Linton, Mandan, Mapleton, Martin, Minot, Valley City and Washburn.
